The Vessel

Paradise Explorer is a 6.5 metre rigid inflatable craft powered by an economical and eco-friendly, 4 stroke outboard motor. She had a new generation 130hp Yamaha outboard fitted in July 2018 and cruises comfortably at around 16 knots (29kmh) and has a top speed of nearly 30 knots (55kmh). It is in commercial survey for up to 11 persons (as a water Taxi in smooth waters) however is generally only used for 6 Adults or up to 8 persons if 2 or more children.

Paradise Explorer was originally built as a service and guest vessel for a small ‘Boutique’ resort in the Whitsundays and after this resort shut down, was purchased by John and totally refurbished over about 1 year, then re-launched with her new name in March 2016. All her equipment is new, and the on-board lifejackets are now the modern, slim inflatable type offering much more comfort when worn.

As the vessel is a smaller craft, there are times that guests will get some spray (during choppy conditions) so the vessel is now fitted with compact, easy to apply spray screens and supplied with spray jackets, leggings and towels for those odd times. The boat is fitted with comfortable bench seats, a bow mounted boarding ladder for easy access to the shore or returning from snorkelling, an overhead canopy to provide shade and a carpeted floor. Her equipment includes 2 marine Radios, a new GPS chart plotter, depth sounder, full navigation lights, safety equipment, fire extinguisher, flares and a large fuel reserve.

The vessel is comprehensively insured and carries the necessary permits for operating in a Marine Park. A brand-new road trailer was purchased for the vessel which makes maintenance much easier, reduces wear and tear on underwater parts and also makes Paradise Explorer extremely versatile for relocation or charters in other parts of Central Queensland, including lakes and dams.
